Job Description

In this role, interns will have the opportunity to make a significant impact across various critical areas within Cummins’ product development and integration.

The key areas of involvement and impact include:

Product Software: This position focuses on applied technology, involving the creation and management of software essential for controlling the operation of various Cummins products across a diverse range of end-use applications.
Software Tools: Also an applied technology role, this involves identifying and understanding stakeholder requirements, developing specifications, and then designing, implementing, testing, and/or releasing software that interacts with Cummins’ products in numerous customer applications.
Hardware: This applied technology position is crucial for creating and integrating the electrical and electronic hardware that forms the backbone of Cummins products. Interns will typically be involved in the development and validation of electronic sensors, actuators, control units, harnesses, wiring practices, or comprehensive control systems, including associated analog and digital signals, to ensure consistent product operation in various customer environments.
Product Performance & Controls Integration: This product-focused role involves tailoring electronic and electrical systems specifically for Cummins products. Interns will be responsible for translating overarching product requirements into detailed hardware and software technical requirements that govern the operational control of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.

2026 Monthly Salary Range by Degree Level:

Bachelor’s: $3,900 – $5,000
Master’s: $6,000
PhD: $7,300

Internship Program Criteria:

• Must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at an accredited U.S. college/university.
• Minimum 2.5 or above GPA preferred.
• Must be able to complete a minimum of 4 to 6 months or a maximum of a 12-month commitment.
• Must be able to complete 40 hours per week.
• Willingness to learn from others on the job.
• Must be currently residing within the continental U.S.
