Job Description, Detailed
This is an Undergraduate Internship position primarily focused on roles within a manufacturing environment, though the compensation section mentions “Engineering internships,” the core degree requirement is Biology or Chemistry.

Impact and Project Focus:
Interns are matched to projects based on their abilities and current business needs. All assigned projects hold significant strategic and/or operating importance to the business.
Summer Project Responsibilities may include:
• Reagent Formulation: Completing the formulation of reagents and solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, strictly following controlled documents and procedures.
• Technical Application & Analysis: Applying specialized technical knowledge and skills to make detailed observations and analyze data within operating parameters. Actively participating in troubleshooting for specific processes or activities.
• Maintenance & Record Keeping: Maintaining equipment, product inventory, and related records. Noting variances on manufacturing documents, auditing, evaluating process documents, and proposing revisions.
• Process Optimization & Compliance: Identifying manufacturing procedures aimed at optimizing existing processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Quality & CAPA: Informing the team lead/supervisor of factors that may affect product quality, initiating problem reports for deviations and non-conforming materials, and suggesting options for corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Peer Review Support: Potentially supporting or assisting in the peer review of daily work orders to ensure compliance, accuracy, and quality.
• Training & Standards Compliance: Satisfactorily completing Thermo Fisher Scientific training requirements on time and operating within all ISO, GMP, and FDA standards pertaining to Frederick Site Manufacturing Operations.
• Other Duties: Performing other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Start Date and Duration:
• The internship is scheduled to begin on either May 11th or June 15th, 2026.
• The duration will be 10-12 weeks, dependent upon student availability per academic calendars.
Compensation & Relocation:
• Hourly Rate: Between $21.50 – $28.75, dependent upon the location supported (aligned to respective cost-of-living guidelines).
• Relocation Stipend: A stipend of $5,000 is offered if necessary. Students must be located 50+ miles away from the physical internship location to be eligible.
Requirements (“How will you get here?”):
• Education: Must be an undergraduate student completing a Biology or Chemistry related degree between December 2026 and June 2027.
• Experience: 0 years of work experience required; however, previous related internships are preferred.
• Character & Drive:
• A consistent track record of results demonstrating integrity, innovation, involvement, and intensity.
• Energized through championing change, driven in getting results, and savvy in navigating ambiguity.
• Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.

• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require sponsorship (current or future) for employment visa status.
