Program Details
This role is part of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Emerging Talent Programs, which encompass Interns, Trainees, and Finance Rotational Associates. These programs are designed to provide unique opportunities for students, recent graduates, and emerging talent to collaborate with teams involved in creating movies, TV shows, and various entertainment experiences. Interns will receive meaningful, paid, seasonal assignments that build on existing experience and develop new skills. Participants can expect challenging tasks, real-world experience, and numerous educational and social networking opportunities.

This particular Fall Internship runs from September through December 12th, with flexible start and end dates to accommodate academic schedules. Interns are required to work 10-29 hours per week, in person, at the specified office location. The position is ideally suited for a student enrolled in an accredited college or university who is interested in gaining professional experience to complement their education.

Department Description
The Post Production team at Sony Pictures Entertainment is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire post-production process for all Columbia/Tristar feature films. Their work spans from establishing budgets that control production workflows for camera and sound on set, through the editing process, to the final delivery of the film. The team collaborates closely with creative executives and filmmakers to ensure the highest quality in both the visual and auditory aspects of the film. Key areas of the post process include picture editorial, sound, visual effects, and music. Additionally, this team is tasked with providing quality-controlled content and technical support for special events, previews, and premieres.

Responsibilities
The intern’s responsibilities will include a blend of administrative support, observational learning, and direct assistance with post-production tasks:
• Attend weekly post production/production staff meetings to stay informed on the status of all ongoing projects.
• Assist with the daily function of the office, which includes answering phones, filing documents, and providing general support to managers.
• Participate in a Post Facilities Tour, visiting various stages such as Sound Mixing Stages, Foley Stages, ADR Stages, and Scoring Stages to understand the infrastructure.
• Shadow Post Executives on their projects to gain insight into their roles and decision-making processes.
• Attend Final DCP (Digital Cinema Package) screenings for quality check purposes, learning about the final delivery stage.
• Attend voice-over (ADR – Automated Dialogue Replacement) sessions with loop group actors on various projects.
• Assist with the organization and scheduling of voice-over sessions.
• Help with the assembly and distribution of contracts for voice-over actors.
• Learn how to create comprehensive post-production schedules.
• Learn to write purchase orders, an essential administrative skill in production.
• Attend a Color Timing (DI – Digital Intermediate) session to understand the visual grading process.
• Discuss the process of setting up and conducting DCP screenings.
• Learn about PIX and Aspera, key tools used for viewing and securely sending post-production material.
• Review delivery schedules and requirements for various projects.
• Gain knowledge about the latest technology, cameras, lab processes, and sound formats used in the industry.

Qualifications
Highly organized, resourceful, and dependable with strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure in a high-volume, deadline-oriented department.
• Must be willing to take and follow directions accurately.
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion.
• Must be flexible and adaptable to an environment where needs and priorities frequently change.
• Possess common sense, dependability, discretion, and a keen attention to detail.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree, with a preferred interest in Editing/Sound/Color/Post production.
• Be computer and technology literate, familiar with Mac/PC operating systems, hard drive formats, and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated passion and interest in a career in Production.
