About The Role – Software Engineering Intern
Dow Jones is seeking a creative and motivated Software Engineer Intern to join its Development team. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience working with various teams to elevate Dow Jones’s sites and products in terms of user engagement and technology optimization. You will contribute to and utilize shared technology platforms while staying current with web technology advancements, making impactful changes to heavily trafficked sites that reach millions of users. The internship fosters a collaborative environment where you will learn from highly skilled engineers, share your own knowledge, and contribute to continuously improving popular products.
Key Responsibilities (You Will):
• Collaborate with engineers across different Dow Jones products to leverage shared technology.
• Understand and improve standards for code development in shared applications and services.
• Learn new technologies and evaluate their potential adoption by presenting pros and cons in terms of business value, scalability, maintainability, and project delivery performance.
• Analyze complex technological problems and propose effective solutions.
• Dig into product requirements to uncover desired goals and make informed decisions on technical approaches.
• Prioritize and manage your work, ensuring adherence to project timelines within a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
Required Qualifications (You Have):
• Completed at least two years towards your Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Javascript and popular Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, node.js, next.js).
• Understanding of capabilities with HTML5 and DOM manipulation.
• CSS knowledge, including Grid, Flexbox, and Media Queries.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive attitude and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
• The ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
Preferred Qualifications (A Plus):
• Exposure to Docker, AWS, or other cloud or container-based application deployment.

Compensation and Benefits
• Salary: The internship offers a salary of $25.00/hour. The posted pay range for this role is $25.00 – $25.00.
