Job Description: Grain Origination Sales Internship

This internship at Cargill is designed to provide real experience and prepare students for their career journey within a supportive and safe learning environment. The Internship Role: Grain Origination Sales
This specific internship falls within Cargill’s Ag & Trading business, which connects agricultural producers to food, feed, and industrial customers via a seamless supply chain. Ag & Trading helps customers compete globally by efficiently delivering products from origins to destinations through marketing, sourcing, originating, storing, trading, consulting, and processing of grain, oilseeds, and sustainable agriculture products and solutions. The business operates across Canada, the United States, and Mexico, with an extensive asset footprint including over 200 grain elevators, export/import facilities, oilseed crush plants, biodiesel facilities, and farm service centers.

Key Responsibilities and Experience:
Apply knowledge gained in the classroom to a sales, risk management, carbon markets, and grain origination environment.
• Gain hands-on experience working on business projects within the sales and origination function.
Work directly with grain producers both over the phone and on the farm.
Assist Strategic Farm Representatives and Grain Origination Merchants, as well as other personnel, in identifying and developing customer solutions and services, and achieving regional grain origination objectives.

Internship Details:
Duration: Typically 12 weeks during the summer (May/June – August 2026).
Compensation: Interns are paid hourly. The expected hourly rate ranges from $20.40 – $28.20, with compensation decisions dependent on graduation date and eligibility for full-time employment.

Travel: Approximately 50% or less travel is required. This frequently involves travel by personal vehicle within an assigned region for meetings. A safe driving history is required, and a motor vehicle record history will be reviewed. Interns are responsible for their own transportation to and from work.
Future Opportunities: Interns demonstrating outstanding performance and curiosity may be offered an internship, co-op, or full-time position for the following year.

Job Locations:
• Various U.S. Locations, which may include (but are not limited to): Linden, IN; Minneapolis, MN; St. Louis, IL; Olathe, KS; Sidney, OH; and West Memphis, AR.
• The work setting will be a combination of office and field.

Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program, with a graduation date between December 2026 and August 2027. All majors are considered.
• Possess the right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
• Hold a valid driver’s license in the United States.
• Willing and able to travel approximately 50% as needed.
• Able to complete a 12-week internship in the summer (May/June – August 2026).
• Must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for an internship opportunity anywhere in the U.S.
Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Must possess a high degree of initiative and resourcefulness in completing work with limited guidance.
• Ability to contribute both as part of a team and individually.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture Management, or a similar agricultural discipline.
• Current access or ability to obtain access to a personal vehicle for travel within the assigned sales region for the duration of the internship.
• An overall 3.0 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
• Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
Leadership skills and experience.
