Job Description (Detailed)

Job Title: Digital Rights Intern

Job Summary:
Create Music Group is seeking a self-driven and highly-motivated Digital Rights Intern. This role involves working closely with department leads to support digital rights operations within the YouTube CMS (Content Management System). Key tasks include onboarding sound recording assets and assisting in the execution of strategies designed to drive higher revenue for clients and the company.
This is an unpaid, part-time internship, specifically designed for current students receiving college credit. Interns must be eligible to work in the U.S. and commit 10–20 hours per week over a 3–4 month term.

Responsibilities:
Asset Ingestion & Onboarding: Assisting in the uploading and organization of YouTube assets into the company’s CMS.
Content Research & Claiming: Conducting research to identify user-generated content (UGC) that utilizes client assets. Applying fair use knowledge to place copyright claims to maximize client revenue.
Client Asset Organization: Helping to compile, list, and maintain detailed records of client assets under the company’s ownership to ensure accounts are organized and current.
CMS Conflict Support: Providing assistance in resolving asset-level issues within the CMS, such as ownership conflicts, disputes, appeals, and metadata corrections.
YouTube Publishing Research: Performing research to evaluate the eligibility of current or prospective clients for revenue generation through YouTube Publishing.
Auditing & Analytics: Assisting in the analysis of YouTube channels and asset data to identify unclaimed content, evaluate channel performance, and prepare reports for potential client opportunities.
A&R Research: Collaborating with the Artists & Repertoire (A&R) team by researching and identifying artists or potential clients who could benefit from Create Music Group’s services.
Copyright Strike Management: Assisting in the management and resolution of copyright strikes on client channels to protect the company’s networks.

Qualifications:
• Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student.
• Must be receiving academic credit for this internship.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
• Possesses a passion for music and stays up-to-date with current trends and new genres in the music industry.
• Familiar with various content formats within YouTube.
• A creative thinker who is not afraid to problem-solve.
• Works well in a team environment and can communicate effectively with peers.
Detail-oriented and organized when handling multiple tasks and projects.
• Eager to gain entry into the music industry and learn a variety of skills within the music distribution and YouTube ecosystem.
• Must be interested in pursuing a serious career in music.

Other Desirable Skills/Experience:
• Previous music industry internships or work experience.
• Experience with Multi-Channel Networks (MCNs), Content Management Systems (CMSs), and distribution platforms.
• Currently enrolled in a relevant educational program (e.g., Marketing, Audio Production, Music Business).

Program Details:
Start Date: Flexible, based on the academic calendar.
Length: 3–4 months.
Schedule: 20-25 hours per week, with 2-3 days per week required in the office.
Compensation: Unpaid, for academic or program credit only.
Reporting To: Manager of Digital Rights.
