Job Description

Job Title: Intern – Orange County Convention Center Manager in Training Operations Internship – Concessions

This role is part of the Sodexo Live! Intern Program, designed for currently enrolled college students to gain valuable professional experience and develop leadership potential.

Location: The internship is based at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), located in the heart of Central Florida, approximately fifteen minutes from the Orlando International Airport. The OCCC is an award-winning facility with two main buildings (West and North/South) and offers a multitude of event options. The surrounding Convention Center District is undergoing a significant transformation with nearly $1 billion in investment, leading to tremendous growth and reinvestment. The OCCC is consistently rated a top-tier convention center, boasting incredible spaces like the remodeled multipurpose Tangerine Ballroom, the Sunburst room and terrace, and the new Honeybell and Hamlin boardrooms.

Principal Function:
The Intern – Operations is primarily responsible for creating unique dining experiences by actively supervising and participating in the execution of both catered events and quick-serve functions. This role involves close collaboration with culinary and operations staff to ensure events are executed smoothly, efficiently, and in accordance with client specifications. The intern will work directly with Operations managers to ensure Sodexo Live!’s overall standards for accuracy, efficiency, quality, and financial performance are consistently met.

Essential Responsibilities:
Maximize Sodexo Live!’s revenue and operational excellence through the implementation and oversight of systems and policies related to catering and quick-serve events.
Contribute to the efficient operation of the business, ensuring all aspects of operations and events are completed in an efficient and effective manner.
Contribute to the goal of making Sodexo Live! the #1 in Event Hospitality and the #1 Employer of Choice through personal commitment and leading by example.

Qualifications/Skills:
• Must be a current college student pursuing studies in hospitality/food management, communications, human resources, accounting, marketing, or another industry-related college program.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
• Capable of working successfully both independently and as part of a team.
• Possesses excellent customer service skills.
• Demonstrates exceptional ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Shows a keen ability to connect easily with others and create positive positioning within various contexts or subject matters.
• Has demonstrated success in interfacing with a variety of organizational functions and divisions to accomplish tasks.

Other Requirements:
• Ability to work effectively and safely in environments that may include wet floors, temperature extremes, and excessive noise.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight.
• Must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
• Availability to work extended or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
