Role Summary:
The Social Media Intern directly supports the Marketing Department, assisting with a wide range of tasks within the working press box. This role provides critical support to the marketing, broadcast, working media, and promotions teams, primarily focusing on social media content creation and fan engagement. The work schedule is highly dynamic, often requiring availability during gamedays, which includes nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Social Media Content Creation & Management:
• Actively contribute to the team’s social media presence across platforms including Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, before, during, and after all games.
• Capture and post real-time game day content, ensuring timely and engaging updates.
• Attend and provide social media coverage for selected community events.
• Brainstorm innovative ideas and create engaging content specifically tailored to maximize impact on each individual social media platform.
• Continuously monitor current social media trends and contribute ideas to enhance fan engagement and expand the team’s digital reach.
• Fan Engagement:
• Assist with direct fan interaction by helping to respond to comments, messages, and mentions across all social media channels.
• Comfortably engage with fans in person, approaching them to film authentic and engaging content for social media platforms.
• Brand Representation & Support:
• Maintain professional relationships with team members, fans, and front office staff at all times.
• Consistently represent the team’s brand in a positive and professional light.
• Provide support with other marketing and public relations tasks as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to assist various departmental initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Educational Background:
• Currently enrolled student or a recent graduate holding a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Broadcasting, or a closely related field.
• Availability:
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, particularly around the team’s game schedule.
• Work Ethic & Pressure Management:
• Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and perform well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Industry Knowledge:
• Possess strong knowledge of hockey as a sport, including rules, teams, and culture.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with various social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).
• Working knowledge of popular video editing software (e.g., TikTok and Instagram native editors, CapCut).
• Proven experience in conceptualizing, filming, and editing short-form videos suitable for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.
• Organizational & Detail Orientation:
