Job Description: Life/Health Actuarial Intern

Overview and Purpose:
This internship offers an opportunity to join State Farm’s Life/Health Actuarial Department. Interns will complete innovative and meaningful project work in a collaborative environment designed to develop both technical and business skills, complementing their academic learning. The program emphasizes training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
Interns will provide analysis and solutions through:
Assessment of risk and financial needs for insurance products.
Development of innovative methods and applications to enhance insurance product pricing.
Research on company and emerging industry trends and “hot topics.”
Extensive training programs, mentoring programs, and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications:
State Farm is looking for college students who meet the following criteria:
Majors: Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or other analytical fields.
GPA: 3.5 preferred; 3.25 minimum required.
Experience: With data and statistical analysis in Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python.
Actuarial Designation: Intention to earn the ASA/FSA designation.
Actuarial Exams: Successful completion of at least one Society of Actuaries actuarial exam.
Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, organization, leadership, and critical thinking skills.
