Job Description, Detailed

The FE Intern position is a full-time internship, requiring students to be available for travel and full-time work hours during breaks from college.

Job Summary
The Field Engineer Intern will gain foundational knowledge of FieldCore’s Turbine and Generator products. This learning will occur under the direct guidance of experienced Field Engineers and Technical Field Advisors. The intern will support Resource and Event Managers on various engineering projects, which will differ in scope and complexity. The internship duration is flexible, ranging from 3 to 8 months, depending on the intern’s availability.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete interactive web-based training on Turbine and Generator product lines.
• Complete all mandatory environmental, health, and safety (EHS) trainings required for customer site visits.
• Develop proficiency in utilizing FieldCore’s web-based technical applications.
• Learn fundamental principles of project management, including scheduling, resource loading, and cost control, to support FieldCore Field Engineers during on-site project execution.
• Assist Event Managers and Field Engineers with project pre-planning, execution, and post-execution tasks. These tasks include arranging subcontractors, expediting shop repair activities, facilitating critical parts orders for outage fulfillment, and tracking/executing customer warranty claims on assigned turbine/generator equipment.
• Support Event Managers with research projects and business simplification initiatives.
• Research and prepare engineering drawing packages and spare parts lists based on customer requests.
• Provide communication, remote, and on-site support to job sites and site teams to expedite parts, third-party suppliers, subcontractor support, and other necessary resources.
• Gain familiarity and hands-on experience with the maintenance and repair of large frame size gas and/or steam turbines.
• Engage with functional support groups, such as sourcing, to expedite short-notice purchases and goods shipments for overhaul jobs.
• Collaborate with Project Controls Advisors to learn practices related to project cost tracking, receiving, and invoicing.
• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as dictated by field assignments.
Travel up to 100% will be required.
• May be assigned additional duties to proactively align with FieldCore’s vision and core values.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Currently pursuing a university degree in Engineering or Engineering Technologies, with specializations in Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Software, Systems, or Aviation Engineering.
• Must be a current student who will return to in-class studies upon the completion of the work term.

Compensation And Benefits

• The hourly wage range for this position is $13.89 to $23.61.
• Employees may be eligible for overtime pay.
