About the Job: Sales Internship Program
This is a 10-week paid summer internship program designed for individuals passionate about a career in sales, focusing on hands-on experience, sales competency building, and making a meaningful organizational impact. The internship start date is scheduled for June 1, 2026.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:
• Hands-on Experience: Gain practical experience in customer service, product knowledge, sales processes, customer relationship management, and performance analysis.
• Team Collaboration: Work alongside experienced sales teams and contribute to real-world projects.
• Supply Chain Understanding: Assist with shipping and receiving duties in the warehouse to understand the impact of supply chain and logistics on sales.
• Training & Development: Participate in structured leadership and sales training sessions.
• Diverse Sales Exposure: Engage in various sales activities including inside sales, outside sales, counter sales, and branch management to gain insight into daily branch operations.
• Networking & Presentation: Attend leadership panels, networking events, and present a final sales project to senior leaders.
• Immersive HQ Experience: Participate in a one-week immersive experience at the Ferguson headquarters in Newport News, VA, for networking and gaining a deeper understanding of Ferguson culture and values.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field; must be a rising junior or senior.
• Availability: Able to work 10 consecutive weeks during the summer (starting June 1, 2026).
• Personal Attributes: Highly motivated, self-starter, competitive, customer-centric, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with team members and customers.
• Problem-Solving: A real-world problem solver with a willingness to “roll up their sleeves” and get the job done.
• Adaptability: Strong teamwork, adaptability, and time management skills.
• Organizational Skills: Able to navigate an ambiguous environment and demonstrate strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
