Job Title: Community Outreach Education Programs Assistant (Internship)

Job Type: This is a remote, unpaid internship opportunity.

Location: The internship can be undertaken from anywhere within the U.S.

Time Commitment: Individuals are required to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week for 6 months.

Purpose of the Role: The individual will assist in coordinating Sahiyo’s community outreach education programs with the primary aim of increasing education and awareness about female genital cutting (FGC).

Responsibilities and Duties:

Research and identify suitable topics for webinars, discussions, and panels.
Plan and develop agendas for webinars.
Coordinate and schedule speakers for various events.
Assist the social media team in promoting and advertising Sahiyo’s programs and events.
Attend virtual events hosted by outside organizations to represent Sahiyo and gather insights.
Write reflections and summaries about attended webinars for publication on Sahiyo’s blog.

Requirements:

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Possess a hardworking, driven, and energetic disposition.
• Be results-oriented and capable of working independently, while maintaining regular contact and collaboration with the team.
• Demonstrate an eagerness to learn about the issue of FGC, with a strong focus on engaging with the community in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.
• Proficient in prioritizing, organizing, and managing time effectively.
• Capable of delivering to agreed deadlines.
