Job Description (Detailed)

This specific job posting is for a Mixed-Signal Validation Engineering Intern position.

Team & Role Overview:
The internship is with Cirrus Logic’s Mixed-Signal Validation Engineering team. Interns will play a crucial role in supporting the validation efforts of the company’s industry-leading mixed-signal products. This hands-on opportunity focuses on high-performance mixed-signal analog converters, Class D digital power amplifiers, and digital interface products, contributing to both pre-silicon verification and post-silicon validation.

Validation roles at Cirrus Logic are broad, encompassing:
Bench-level characterization
Automated production testing
Pre-silicon modeling
Post-silicon debug

Interns will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of product development and validation, working with cutting-edge audio and data acquisition technologies in a collaborative and innovation-driven environment. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design, applications, and manufacturing test engineers, is a key aspect, ensuring products meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Internship Logistics:
Duration: 12-14 weeks
Timing: Summer 2026 semester
Schedule: Full-time
Work Location: While Cirrus Logic generally follows a 2+ day in-office schedule, interns should expect to be in the office more often, potentially up to 5 days per week, depending on business needs and team preference. Interns must be within commutable distance of the work location or willing to relocate prior to the start of the internship.

Responsibilities:
As a Mixed-Signal Validation Engineering Intern, key responsibilities include:
• Assisting engineers in the development and production of mixed-signal and analog semiconductor ICs.
• Performing electrical bench testing and automated test equipment (ATE) analysis.
• Designing and building test hardware for validation and characterization.
• Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing performance and yield data.
• Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, such as matrix lot reviews, GRR (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility), CPK analysis (Process Capability Index), and test program release.
• Contributing to yield enhancement and cost reduction initiatives for ramping products.
• Interfacing with cross-functional teams to manage production ramp deliverables and timelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with mixed-signal product engineering and IC testing.
• Proficiency with common lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, waveform generators, power supplies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving mindset and willingness to iterate on solutions.
• Knowledge of yield analysis and statistical techniques (e.g., ANOVA, Regression, GRR).
• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Spotfire, JMP, Excel, and PDF.
• Understanding of high-volume production ramps and test hardware debugging.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience with Teradyne ATE systems: UFlex, Excerra, or Catalyst.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix shell scripting.
• Familiarity with IC or board-level test and failure analysis methodologies.
