Job Description: Registered Dietitian

This position is for a Registered Dietitian at Prisma Health, with opportunities available in various locations within Greenville and the Upstate of South Carolina.

Job Summary:
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing comprehensive nutrition care and education to patients and/or their caregivers. This role operates under the direction and supervision of a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist. Key responsibilities include evaluating patients’ nutritional status, developing and implementing care plans, assessing nutrient requirements, recommending nutrition prescriptions, evaluating patient tolerance and effectiveness of interventions, and communicating essential information to physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Reporting Structure:
This is a non-management job and reports to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities (with approximate percentages):

30%: Coordinates, reviews, plans, updates, and implements medical nutrition therapy for patients in adherence to established policies and procedures.
25%: Monitors patients who are receiving nutrition support.
15%: Provides nutrition education to patients, caregivers, staff members, and community partners.
15%: Serves as a preceptor for medical, dietetic, and food service interns, and/or assists with clinical research.
10%: Participates and serves in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient rounds, multidisciplinary committees, and/or discharge planning.
5%: Assists with performance and quality improvement projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) accredited institution and/or an approved internship program is required.
Experience: No previous experience is required for this position.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
• Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) Registration.
• South Carolina Dietetics License.

Other Required Skills/Experience:

• Ability to maintain 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years.
• Proficiency in interpreting data, teaching, communicating effectively with other healthcare professionals, manipulating numbers, and writing in medical records.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Inpatient, outpatient, or community healthcare experience.
• Knowledge of guidelines and regulations from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), The Joint Commission, Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Compensation & Benefits:
