Job Description (Graduate Public Policy Research Associate)

This is a temporary associate position within Walmart’s Global Public Policy Team, specifically supporting the PolicyLab. The Walmart PolicyLab functions as an incubator for ideas at the intersection of the public, private, and non-profit sectors, focused on operationalizing Stakeholder Capitalism.

Position Summary:
The Graduate Public Policy Research Associate will work to conduct research and provide crucial logistical, research, and strategic support to both the Global Public Policy Team and the PolicyLab.

Duration and Location:
• This is a summer temporary associate position.
Duration: 10 weeks, from June to August.
Work Hours: 40 hours per week.
Location: Fully onsite in Washington, D.C.

Key Responsibilities (What You’ll Do):
Secure advocacy opportunities and manage logistics for engagements.
Submit written reporting directly to Walmart executives.
Carry out stakeholder mappings in various key issue areas.
Contribute to complex and time-sensitive deliverables and programs.
Manage stakeholder engagement and outreach.

Qualifications and Skills (What You’ll Bring):
Educational Requirement: Candidate for a Masters degree in public policy or international affairs.
Relevant Experience: Globally oriented work experience in business or international relations for sectors such as private companies, government, NGOs, trade associations, or similar organizations.
Relationship Management: Experience in cultivating and managing stakeholder relationships with a strong emphasis on trust and integrity.
Core Skills: Excellent research and communication skills.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree in social science, government, international relations, or business.

Compensation:
• The hourly wage range for this position is $25.00 – $46.00.
• The actual hourly rate will meet or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
